    very helpful, thought id start my own thread.

    I have not tried the grease gun method as yet

    i tried compressed air, one moves outwards but only about 1/4", wont go the rest the way. The other is stuck level with the caliper block, it wont budge. Will hooking up the brakes and using the fluid pressure to push them out[in reverse fluid direction if nessasary], work in this case? opinions?

    The rear master cylinder can take a screw into the piston [to lever it out] , but can the caliper pistons handle drilling a hole [outer face, along centre axis] to take a screw? ie- and not penetrate through the piston? just curious?

    A final question - What is the purpose of the rubber "boots" around the bolts that the bracket mounts onto?

    Those bolts are actually slide pins, and the boots are to keep dirt out of the grease. I wouldn't drill the piston unless you're going to replace it,as they're actually fairly thin walled. Try the grease gun trick, I have never seen it fail. The slide bolts are usually a bigger problem, as the larger one passed through a very thin, almost sheet metal like bushing, that gets destroyed when pressing out the stuck slide bolt. I don't know where you can get a replacement bushing.

    Just examining them, on the calipers, is that the rubber seal poking through ? That would jam then, no doubt.

    That does look like the piston seal coming through. I'll bet that piston is stuck pretty well!

    Peel that rubber outta there. Soak it with the best you've got,work it with what you can. Compressed air will usually shoot them out . Have a very thick shop rag packed in there. It comes out like a shot. Pull your slide pics, 5.5 mm allen on a air gun is the best way to snap them free. Clean and shine them and the caliper, grease the sliders, get new rubbers and rebuild. Frankly, I would just order a new one, I think they are down to well under $50 on Ebay,not sure how bad the shipping will be to Oz.

    Im sorry, i do not understand what your mean?

    $50 over there, is $80 over here, plus postage, you guys are lucky like that. And im a scroogy terd!

    Im curious, would the seal "leaking" out of the between the piston and bore, sugest that the bore had substantial wear, to allow it to sqeeze out like that?, id be surprised if the piston wouldnt fall out if thats the amount of slack between itself and the bore in the caliper. It would take alot of pressure to force that seal out like that, or is this a common issue?

    Question- On the rear caliper, if i hit/force/ the spigot for the park brake [poking out at rear of caliper, when park brake assembly is removed], would this help force the piston out? Will it damage anything?

    Your caliper is in really bad shape to have the rubber showing,,yes. I would order that new one and never look back lol!

    The front caliper seems stuck fast, so i was wondering, has anyone used a different bike's front caliper to replace a faulty 200X front caliper, if so, what type/brand? I cant locate any NEW-OEM front calipers for sale, anywhere, a couple of 2nd hand ones in various conditions, but nothing new.

    Also, do the rear calipers, transpose over to fit the front mounts, they look very similar, with a different mounting bracket? [??swap them over??]?

    I have ordered a new rear caliper from the link i provided, it looks Ok quality, just hope it is on the bike.

    a 2000 kx 80 rear caliper bolts rite up to the front mounting bracket that attaches to the fork, a CR 80 front caliper are close to the same for the back of a 200x and will bolt up.

    Just order some different calipers and be done with it. Not the cheap ebay ones though. I have a 1995 Cr80 front caliper on the rear of my 85 200X. And a 98 kx 80 REAR caliper on the front. No modifications necessary at all. Im about 99% sure any cr80 stuff will work from 1986 up to like 2002 or 2003. I paid less than 30 or 40 dollars for both. Like 15 or 20 each on fleabay
