    1985 Honda 250sx and 250es propeller shaft boot interchange

    Can anybody confirm that the 1985 Honda 250sx propeller"rear driveshaft" boot is a correct replacement for a 1985 Honda 250es big red. Ive never had a shaft drive big red, but plan to purchase a big red and would like to know if it's a direct replacement

    I have no first-hand experience, but according to the parts catalog, they are different.


    Searched 1985 200ES Boot and got this part:
    This Honda 52101-HA0-680 BOOT, JOINT is used in the following models and assemblies:
    1986 ATC250ES A - SWINGARM
    1987 ATC250ES A - SWINGARM


    Searched 1985 250SX and got this part:
    This Honda 52101-HA8-680 BOOT, JOINT is used in the following models and assemblies:
    1985 ATC250SX A - SWINGARM / PROPELLER SHAFT
    1985 TRX250 A - SWINGARM
    1986 ATC250SX A - SWINGARM
    1986 TRX250 A - SWINGARM
    1987 ATC250SX A - SWINGARM
    1987 TRX250 A - SWINGARM

    The SX and ES boots are all gone. There were a minor mold difference between the two driving a different part number but either one worked. What Honda is selling now for the ES and SX are the TRX250 boots. They work just fine but once they are gone I'm not sure what will be a suitable replacement.

    I managed to score a NOS one a few months back for a 250es. Will keep that because the one on mine is not the best with a bit of dry rot. Such a job to replace it though! Will definately be waiting till it's completely unusable.

    Anybody recall a aftermarket two peice replacement from "back in the day" ?
    It sure sticks in my mind there was something like that availabe once upon a time,,,
