Red rider, questions on Hybrid ATC/CR250r

Looking for info on your CR/ATC hybrid motor. I have a 1998 CR250R and an 85 atc250r I wanted to put the CR stuff on my ATC motor. Milner says you may be able to offer some help.

Well first off, with a '98 CR250, I'm not sure how much will easily swap over. I have an '86 ATC250R, and supposedly the '86 ATC's center-cases would accept a CR top-end, whereas the '85's center-cases wouldn't. I know the '86-91 CR cylinders have the same cylinder stud layout, but not sure on the '92-01. I know they can be made to fit, because FTZ Racing offers this setup, but it requires welding & machining of the bottom-end to do so. From '02-later, the CR's had the miserable case-reed motors. Any other questions, feel free to ask away.

Cool. Ok, sounds like I got some measuring to do and the 85 bottom end will not work. Crap!!
