    84 tecate

    guy says engine runs in reverse..It kick starts the same way as arrow on mag.250 a engine was rebuilt top and bottom...This problem piqued my interest..could it be reversed wiring to igniter.......has 5 speeds but goes in reverse..anyone know the solution? thanks..

    The magnets in flywheel have been switched around is my first thought,,, acually it is the only possibilty i am aware of.
    Is it stock flywheel and if so dose it looked to have been altered ???

    Don't know about flywheel cause its not mine.....cant read whats on the paper in the pic...maybe some important info ..thks...

    Yes, it's the seqence of proper magnet placement.
    The flywheel on right is stock 84 thru 88 tecate (3+4 wheeler).
    The flywheel on left is stock 86,87 KX250. Bolts right on but way off in keyway placement which throws timing way out of whack,,, about enough to make motor run bassackwards

    The timing can be so far off and cause it to run backwards because the stator plate is on in wrong position or just wrong all together.

    I watched my friend roll my quad down a hill and when the quad landed it rolled backwards and started up at the bottom of the hill. That 2 stroke motor will run in either direction.

    Ok here was the solution to running in reverse......quote " I rewired stator with new pickups,had to wire twice but pulled it and she ran the right way"....thanks for all your input guys......
