I may still have a pod from a 1983 GS1100ES, if I run into it it's yours.
    I'll take it.....the cluster.

I couldn't agree more......it's not that you need a "systems check" or gear indicator.......it's that it was a time (somewhat brief) in motorcycling history that the 80s high tech boom/fad found its way into motorcycling. I'm old enough to remember as a kid asking a friends older brother who just bought the new Seca 750 to turn on the ignition so we could watch the computer go through a "systems check"......felt like Tron. Heck the Virago in one form or another is still being made today but the digital thing was very short lived.

Here's a pic of my GL1200 at Baker CA.......taking a quick break on my way to Vegas. Talk about bar graphs and what not.....this thing was it all....trip computer, digital everything and totally distracting and complete overkill but 80s history at work. We'll with the exception of the trip computer as only half of the functions work. If anyone has one for sale and not at an ass raping price let me know.

I feel as if post #50 was directed toward me. I am a farce to be reckoned with.

I may try to push you over the edge, but I'd never try to push you down the stairs.

Wow! I almost mentioned the 750 Seca in my post LOL! My friend had one and I wanted nothing more than to smash that cluster with a baseball bat as I was trying to figure out why it was intermittently dropping two cylinders.
    It sucks to get old

You remind me of the Starship Enterprise, as you both circle around Uranus and look for Klingons. Now back to AK47's thread already in progress... Sorry for the derailment.

Gauge cluster definitely has a "Back to the Future-ish" vibe to it... 80's wanting everything to be computerized aside, I hated mine. LOL! Fugly and problematic....

2- How much will it cost just to get it mechanically sound?

3-What do I want to do with it after I get it running? (race it, cafe it, exhaust, suspension, etc)

Crunch some numbers and be realistic about it. I dumped about $1500 into a free 1980 kz550 years ago and realized that, to get it where I want it, it would cost at least another 2k…and for that price I could get a good running KZ1000 (the bike I would prefer).

    Just food for thought bro.
Get it ridding and sell it. If it can make a reliable trip about 500 mile round trip I'd probably keep it.

Get a manual and read it and get it running and riding safe. The virago had an nice power delivery...somewhat similar to a lowe powered TL1000

Then after some miles on it (1000) figure how to improve it or make the changes you deem fit for your application.

Oh.....and if it works keep the gauge cluster. They represent a time in motorcycle history when a lot of the manufacturer's were utilizing high tech gadgetry of the time. Absolutely cool and totally 80s. If you don't want it let me know...as long as it works.
I saw it and for some reason I thought of the movie "back to the future" cluster works as far as I can tell. All though all the warning light and stuff is lit up

I don't know man, my brother-in-law had a late 80's Buick Regal that had a dash that looked like a sideways Christmas tree.

So the right side case cover has some kind a jb weld on it and the tank has a couple dents. I'm thinking this bike has been laid
