    Well crap.....Yamaha 225dx tranny problems

Well found out the big red that posted in an earlier thread had 30psi compression....had a guy who wanted it, so after some discussion of cash, the big red moved on down the road. So had a friend sell me a Yamaha dx225... It's nearly perfect. I got it home and cleaned the carb due to it running rough, then ran it around the yard, after running it moderately hard for a bit..it started popping in and out of gear...and now 4th gear seems to be making a rattling noise while engaged. I checked the engine oil. And it seemed to be a hair low...about a 1/4 quart...I added the oil and it still makes noise.. But stays in gear now. Any idea what the noise could be..where to start looking?

hard to say could be something with the clutch pack, and or bad shift forks, I have a dx transmission for sale if you need it. either way check you clutches first and then if you still have problems remove the motor and split the cases to the transmission
rectum nothin damn near killed them

Thanks I'll check the clutch first. The Dx came with an extra bottom end... So I should be set as far as tranny stuff goes. I'm almost thinking the shifting fork might be the culprit, as it seems to shift very soft and it doesn't "click" into gear if that makes sense?
