Trying to help a buddy. He's got a shaft drive yamaha 200. The bigger 200. Shaft drive with the 25 inch tires. The bottom end is bad. So, he has a good 225DX bottom end. How different, if at all, are bottom ends? Can he put the 200 top end on the 225 bottom end? I know there is slightly different gearing, but they appear to be identical. Anyone done this?

The answer, for future reference, is no, you cannot. the bottom ends are slightly different.
