Dean I have a question about the air cooled 250Rs. How did the different pipes stack up against one another? Was there one that stood out as clearly being "the best"? I hope that you haven't already been asked this question.
It is great to have some guys on here that can answer questions like these . Not too many people are as lucky as you to have had a job where you got to ride all of those different machines and see first hand how they all performed.
Airfoolers RULE!!!

Pipes are a very personal pick, some liked the Bassani for its smooth mild powerband, others like the Paul Turner for its deep sound and torque. Bill's pipes and Klemm Research both were very popular with the racers. DG were very pipey, with little low end. All depends on riding style, port work, and rpm range you wish to ride in.

I have three 250Rs and the 3Wheeling mags with the test in them. Also some shoot outs with wheelers + wheelers and wheelers + quads. It is fun to read them now and again.

Anything is possible with conversions. No, the gas tanks are different from CR to ATC.

love my trikes
yes i remember the days also. unfortunately i could not afford tohave my own atc's soi stood by and watched my buddies enjoy theres. i would get lucky and get a few rides in here an there. well those days are over and i have quite a nice collection now. i am totally consumed with my 3 wheelers. i just recently bought a 1985 250sx with 182 miles on it. it is still brand new. when i got it shipped the transporter broke the back left corner of my fender off. needless to say i was devistated and have searched the world over for new fenders. please can anyone help. i must put this treasure back the way it was. anyway its exciting to know there are others out there who love the atc as much as me.

i was sitting in my motosport tech course the other day and my instructor was throwing out a bunch of old mags from the 80's and i asked if i could look through them and sure enough there was a bunch of 3wheeling mags sitting there i took them home and read through them seeing as these were the first ones i had seen and i came across an article about doubling up the rear tires to make a 5wheeler i was just wondering if anyone had tried this or if there were anyother weird mods that had been featured in the mag before.
that is what i think of non 3-wheelers

wow, this site is great!...
I got a trike in 84 (was 10 years old) and loved 3Wheeling.. bought it every month I think right up until the last issue of ATVSports...
I think the first issue I got was July 84 - the cover had a 200x being refuelled by the pit crew in Baja. A girl was holding a sign with a message to the rider : "Get your skirt off!".
I also read DirtWheels and 3&4Wheel Action, but they didn't have the same level of quality (sorry to anyone involved with those magazines).

What a trip reading this thread. I was a subscriber of 3Wheeling magazine from 1982 to the very end of ATV Sports. Got my first ATC in '83, a 185S. I was a huge fan of the magazine and was very sad to see it go.
Fast forward to 1998. I got a job working for Sand Sports magazine in the same office as Dean. I was in Heaven workin' in the same office as the famed 3Wheeling. And of course they had every issue in the archives and I would often read many of them.
I think it's awesome that this thread has lasted several years and is still going.
Now I'm in AZ and do freelance work for a couple of other magazines. Anyway, just want to chime in. Great thread!
