ATC Half-track

I am sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but what about putting tracks on the rear of an ATC? Seems like the Germans liked a similar setup in WWII, however I don't know if they used brake steering on the tracks or if simply turning the front wheel was sufficient to direct the vehicle.



Does anyone know if this has been attempted yet?

Ha! Well I've got the 250es, now I just need $2000 for tracks!

On that little test run, it seems no more effective for climbing hills that a normal ATC250ES. I'm sure those set ups come into their own when it comes to snow though.

Track set ups like that have been around for a long time, the set ups that I find pretty cool are the ski attachment on the front when working in the snow. Back in the day there was a cool article in 3 wheeling which had a 185 or 200 fitted with a ski.

I might agree with you there. One benefit would be having some extra weight down low to help lower the center of gravity. Camoplast says the tracks are 71lbs a piece--140lbs agianst the ground on a trike that only weighs 400lbs should make it pretty stable.

Like this! 1973 ATC 70 with snowblower tracks on it. Works pretty good and since it's gear reduced I can hit third gear.
