For bikes that aren't garage kept to keep the corrosion/rust off the links and the O-rings soft I use ATF (auto transmission fluid) just pour some on a rag and wipe it down. I used to use WD40 for a long time but ATF adhered better, better protection, and cheaper.
Remove all the warning label and let nature take its course
