Has anyone ever figured out a shifter option for 2nd gen 250r?

I have done the search thing and have read about the possibility of a cr480 shifter working but looking at the pics of them it does not have the same drop down to the shift shaft that mine has. But maybe that is not needed if the shifter sticks out enough to clear the side of the motor. Either way I am stumped because someone welded mine on and I had to cut it to get access to my clutch for another issue im having. This shifter is totally trashed and I can't seem to find any online. Really didn't want to pay 60.00US for a used one that probably has the splines have worn out already.

Keep an eye out on Ebay there are quite a few sellers that have nice condition parts for trikes.
