Yes...........on my Yamaha I just used a slightly curved pick and a small screwdriver. I didn't remove the shaft

Edit.........don't forget a small amount of oil on the seal prior to installing

I bought a 350x seat cover from that seller on e-bay. The material is great, the quality of the printing is great, but the installation is very tricky with pre-printed logos. What happened to me is that the "350x" curved downwards towards the back of the seat due to having to stretch the back enough in order to get rid of wrinkles. It didn't look horrible, but you'll need to spend some time with it (lots of temporary tacks) in order to keep the "200x" logo straight and even.

Your right and that's been my fear ever since I recovered my "field find 350X". It only had the Honda logo in the back........nothing else and I could barely get that straight.

I did my own seat quite some time ago. I had really good luck stenciling the logos myself and using VHT Vinyl Die (in a spray can). I just wasn't crazy about the material I used back then (it was nice, but wasn't OEM).

With the e-bay seat, I like the material and color. I contacted the seller and he said he could sell me the cover without the stenciling. So, I'd get the nice OEM style material, be able to install it without worry about keeping logos straight, THEN apply the Honda and 350X logo. It might be something to think about, depending on the level of effort you want to invest.

Thanks for sharing your experience. When I get to that point I may ask for some assistance with your techniques............... as it sounds like something I can do.

Up until the 350X I never upholstered anything in my life. The video the cover came with made applying it seem easy but I found out otherwise.

I usually leave things like this to the pro's but there's no room in my budget for professional upholstery services.

    That's not bad.

I did this one about a year ago for the first time......86 350X. It had no lettering to line up. Sometimes I feel part of the problem is the older foam was not adequate

The slider came out nice. Ugly fork boot will get the wintergreen bath tomorrow.

I will probably preload the springs up front about an inch. They are old and a little saggy but usable. I understand it will reduce travel by an inch under full compression but this will be fine.

No, it will not reduce travel by an inch.

If they are too soft you can also use thicker oil and raise the oil level by 1/2" in addition to increasing the preload.

    Thank you 468.

Rebuilt the fork caps.......meaning new o rings and a cleaning. It's all the little things.

The master is yucky. It worked but felt spongy and clumpy. In an effort to maintain my budget I'm going to reuse most of the items with the exception of the large o ring to the reservoir.............and a quick paint.

Cleaned up the headlight and polished it the best I could. I had a good light to start with.

Installed the bent headlight guard. I wasn't going to but I figured since I already painted it I might as well.

Although the throttle looked clean inside it was slow to swing and was clumped up with old hardened dirty grease. Cleaned all the internals and applied some new grease and........ bada boom bada bing........good as new.

One problem I forsee is with the new.......more narrow bars......the front master looks as if it may not have enough space. May have to cut off that little lip to slide it over a quarter of an inch or whatever.

Mounted the unfinished master to see if it will work. It's a little angled but should be fine even with the protector mounted. It's hard cleaning but a lot of the corrosion and what not comes off after an acid bath.
