Can you post a link to the zinc kit you used? I have some parts that need this.

Here it is. But check out the pic of the side case. The rusty bolts were done with Eastwood and the front 3....Caswell. I understand the price difference between the 2 systems is huge but the Caswell is superior. I would recommend dipping, then steel wooling.....repeating at least 2 times...preferably 3. The Eastwood was my first attempt at plating myself and I learned. Not a bad system for the price but I only plated once for each item except a few I did twice.........those never rusted.

Just a note. Although the initial cost for the Caswell system is more....the real cost comes with the purchase of heaters and a regulated power supply and chromates, etc. But for a real nice restoration it is my choice.

$425 later and it sits.......awaiting a set of forks from eBay and a new handlebar. This will now sell for $500 when im ready to sell......since thats the new budget.

I need a cheap seat over from ebay, parts to address the stator housing leak and a rebuild kit for the caliper.

Oh yeah 44..........I'm sure I could get more for it.

But I initially sold it to a neighbor for $400 and in another thread I offered it up here for $400. I just considered giving fellow forum members first dibs on it........just kinda giving folks here a deal. But I'm going to use it for a few planned trips and when or if it needs to find a new home it will for a good price.

Picked these grips up today at Kon-Tiki. This place will make your dick hard if you like classic bikes like bultacos, old tritons, etc. They are an eBay seller and was just working near their location and thought I would just pick them up. Very nice old family biz. I like the squishy foam grips.

Also going to clean up the ball bearings and races as they rotate clunky and need servicing.

Very careful when I remove triple clamps so I know I didn't drop any......18 top and 18 bottom. My 200X 83 manual says 21 top and 21 bottom. I will assume the 85 specs didn't change concerning this.....maybe I'm wrong.

Fork springs....... are progressive springs pretty much the only springs available for it?

I cleared the triple clamps. I made the willing "no no" choice to use a high gloss for the clear simply because I had a little left and wanted to use it before it went foul. I know........low gloss clear...... of which I don't have any.

Secondly.....the painter in me applied 2 coats of clear on the crown. As I was applying the second I knew I made the mistake. One light coat is ideal.

I also scuffed the crown to get all those corrosion marks off.

While waiting for the forks I assembled the triple and bars that came in. The bearings all greased up and everything cleaned. Bars are not as wide as stock but not as bent either. The whole setup is straight and moving freely.......no clunking. Looks much nicer now with the only money spent on the new bars.

Might start "loose" assembling the headlight and such while waiting for the tubes. I can't over emphasize how nice it is to feel straight and things so far.....free moving.

Personally, I think you're​ crazy selling that for so cheap but I get it. I sold mine to a kid I've known a long time for way less than I had in it because I knew how much he loved it and he's willing to spend the money to keep it running right and in good order.

While waiting for my son to take me to Vegas I'll start the "freshening up" of this master. It worked fine but will take apart to clean and soak the rubber parts in a boiling wintergreen solution.

Forks came in and seem straight. Pitting on the upper sections but it looks like there isn't near the seals. I will mock install and if everything lines up nicely I will just rebuild these and live with the pitting.

I traded the black fuzzy grips for blue fuzzy grips because I want to be cool.

Also I mocked installed everything and it lines up perfectly. I will just rebuild these and slowly get over the pitting.
