    A Rude Awakening...

4:30 am this morning I was woke up when I heard a loud crash and a motor rev up VERY high and then shut off. Sounded like it was right outside my window. well, it was! A couple seconds later (was still waking up!) I realized what happened, ran outside and a guy had rolled his car over in the neighbors yard. I was afraid I was going to find a car stuck in the front of my house. anyway what ever happened, He had gotten up on the side walk and hit a street sign and then a telephone pole in front of my house, took out my mailbox and the neighbors, hit the retaining wall in my neighbors yard and rolled the car. It was an E class Mercedes! Some kid, don't know what happened for sure. He was all right too, just pinned. took them about an hour to cut him out of the car! It screwed that car up! pieces all in the street and my yard, the neighbors yard, mail boxs and posts and splinters thrown everywhere. bricks from the retaining wall, It was a mess!

It was scarey as hell going up to that car, setting up on the drivers side, right after it happened. Never know the condition of the people inside. Fortunately, no blood. He was is good shape, just shaken up. this kid was fortunate that he glanced the power pole and hit the retaining wall. It's only about 2 feet tall. If he would have been a foot to the left he would have center punched the power pole. a foot or two to the right he would have hit a big tree stump in my yard or worse then punched a big oak tree in my neighbors yard. Aside from the fact he crashed, Its unreal the luck that was with this kid.

Almost the same thing happened at my uncle's house, except the guy ran away drunk because they found a girl dead in his bushes.

I tell you kids these days have more money than brains. Not too long ago, I was invovled in a major accident that happened on I-80 here in PA, there were like 14 tractor-trailers, and I dont know how many cars. I was lucky enough in that the car I was in went off the road, I saw numerous cars jammed underneath trucks, and they just kept coming. I tried to help everyone that I could, some people made it out with broken bones and bruises, some werent as fortunate, some of the things I saw, are going to haunt me for the rest of my life. You think you have a firm grip on reality, but when you see pieces of what were once people littering the road, and hearing the screams of people burning alive, it just really gives you a wake up call, and makes you realize how precious, and fragile our lives really are.
