Do you know what TDC on the compression stroke is?? Or how to know what stroke it's on?? How many times does a cam spin versus one revolution of the crank??
A cam is a cam is a cam. Some mat be hard-welded, some may have a longer dwell or a different lobe separation. If you don't know why the cam is built the way it is, ask the person you bought it from, Biker Chick or however it's spelled.
They all do the same thing, they all need to be timed right and they all need the proper valve lash.
Keep ANY manual next to your toilet and read it; A four stroke is a four stroke and it sounds as if your not sure about allot of things and how they work in a four stroke.
"Anything I should know about timing", Yes, absolutely, you should have a full understanding of why things need to be set where, your not just lining up dots because you have a full understanding of how a 4 stroke operates.
So, asking online is a very good thing; You do not want to bend a valve I'm sure. But you've got to stop right now and read the manual. I believe Oscar Mayer still has all the manuals online to view for free.
But, hey, I made similar mistakes when I was 16 years old. My only difference is that back in my day there was no internet to ask, and most of your friends knew about the same stuff you knew. Anything you bought from a magazine was a COD deal. And you'd sit home all day waiting for the big brown truck
