And you’re still not running Tubliss filled with helium???
Brake rods are a thing of the past. I think somebody finally figured out that they were way over-engineered. If you look at modern bikes they just tie the caliper mounts to the swing-arm as close to the axle as possible. You could probably weld a tab to your swinger and run a 6” or 8” rod to it.
Check out ProBolt for aluminum fasteners. I swapped out all the non-critical steel bolts for aluminum on my Duck and based on the bag of steel hardware I had left over would guess I lost about 5 pounds off the bike.
Unfortunately I was so pleased with myself that I took the wife out to eat with what little money I had left after buying all that aluminum and my azz gained about 5 pounds at the ensuing meal.

This afternoon I had to get my bike ready for two days at the Nationals which starts tomorrow, so I installed new GERITOL lettering and am looking for some nice VIAGRA decals now for the fenders.

Well if it is a sandy track, it is definitely a barrel of laughs to watch me, cuz I hate sand and can't ride on it on a motorcycle. Two thirds of the Friday course I rode at the Lake Elsinore GP was ultra fine lake bed sand, and my feet were flaylin off the pegs in nearly every corner, and I got beat by some fat old sob on a fkng 1974 Hodaka ACE 100 with stock suspension. He would pass me in the turns in the sand, then when we got to the hard dirt, there was a 1/8th mile long straight section as soon as we left the sand portion, and I would catch him around 1/2 way down that straight and blow by him doing nearly 70 mph, lol, then he would catch me in the sand again and eventually beat me.
I raced at Glen Helen in January for the first time since 1993, and that is a sand track, plus it was muddy from the rains, and I tipped over in a couple slow turns like 4 different times, lol, but I beat some of the 4 strokes up mount saint helens when I could get a decent drive out of the turn at the bottom.
I put a 1 size smaller main in my bike today, so with the boyesen reeds I put in it last week, I am curious as to how it will run tomorrow., I am bringing the stock reeds in case it is slower than it was.
With all the fine tuning and gear change I did over the last couple weeks, I should probably be able to hole shot the majority of the bikes and riders at the vintage races I go to if the start has decent traction and I get off the gate decent. I got a 2nd place start over around 12 guys at the last vintage race in the 250 class, and finished 2nd beating all but one of the expert level riders, so it was a very good day for me.![]()
What’s with the 7/8” bars??? Are you punishing yourself???

Yeah, I heard about the one calvmx had there last year, but they advertised it as a TT race, so I had no interest in it because I don't want to ride TT anyone cuz it's too dangerous for me now, but I rode it a few times before at the old Elsinore night TT track and Perris night TT when I was a lot younger and a lot more competent.
I just looked up the one they had last year and they all had motocross bikes and motocross tires, so yeah, I could, and might ride that if nothing else is going on but the track looks really lame and really slow, so it would be boring, but if I do race it, I might do it on my YZ100. It actually might get around that track faster than the bigger bikes, but I would have to re-learn how to ride a small bike as they are a lot of work, lol.

That track is too small for my 250. It works best on a big track where I can get up some speed like at Cahuilla MX Park where I raced last Sunday. Here's a video of that track layout.
