Poured some tailight rubbers but i cant for the life of me figure out how honda got a large rectangle rubber through a half the size square hole...i'll probably try boiling (heat) them maybe so they soften up (they may have been a waist of time).
Also made a new headlight pin mold (much better than my last) planned on doing a run of 100 but the mold failed at or around 50. Actually happy with the result of those though, just wish i could of done more but the 4 part mold was not easy.

I've probably purchased 4-5 cheap chinese carburetors with no problems at all. Now for whatever reason their rebuild kits never worked well for me......for the most part OEM stuff is usually widely available and not too much.

We didn't wait for the snow...we went to it...about 30 miles away from where I live. I know folks like my nephew who deal with it every winter think we are nuts for seeking it out.

Finally going to get started on replacing the intake/exhaust gasket on my pickup. Fun, fun.

I like inline sixes, except for this part, and especially with headers.

Well our real winter finally arrived last Sunday waking up to -30F and snow, snow and more snow, about 13" over the last few days. And it's looking like it's going to stay in the crapper for awhile. So glad I have my Jeep refurbishment project going in a heated shop!

I'm running six into two headers on the 300 six. Just an issue with headers on an inline. These headers aren't particularly well fitting, so that's the major part of it. I'm not sure of the brand, because I haven't seen another set with similar primary bends, and I can remove the starter with them in place. Most other brands make getting the starter off nearly impossible without loosening things up.

I'm kicking around replacing them with the dual EFI cast manifolds. Less heat, less noise, longer lasting, and better sealing.

Power Nation recently done a N/A 300 build, getting 300ft/lb of torque, with a nearly stock engine except bolt on parts and a cam. They done a turbo Chevy 292, getting over 500ft/lb. There's an insane Turbo Jeep inline build, with more than 800 horsepower.
Ah, an older one. The 97-10 two and three valve 5.4L v8s were notorious for having manifold issues, I figured that's what you were dealing with. I'm a v8 fan but I openly admit that the 300 straight 6 was the best engine Ford ever built, haha.

85 ATC 250R - restored stock other than 18" rears, nerf bars, Honda key switch, 14T front sprocket, and white tank and plastics (except rad shrouds)

87 ATC 200X - restored stock other than 18" rears and nerf bars

84 TRX 200 - rough but complete budget restore for wife and eventually daughters to bum around on

Eton Viper 50cc - oldest daughter's current ride

None of the stock Ford and Chevy I-6's had common manifold problems, it's mainly when using aftermarket parts that it becomes an issue. Exhaust manifolds can and do crack on any of them, but it was Jeep that had the most issues and why there's an aftermarket, tubular exhaust manifold (sort of like a header, but not truly) with flex joints built in. If you hear an older Cherokee with an exhaust leak, a cracked exhaust manifold it probably the problem.

Inline sixes are long lasting and tough due to their balanced design. There's a reason why V6 and I4 four engine use a counterbalancer, and flat plane V8's vibrate more than cross plane ones. A lot of people don't know that the overwhelming majority of 18-wheelers in the US use inline, six cylinder engines. One of Dodges best engines was a diesel inline six; the Cummins. UPS used Ford 300s in their delivery trucks, before switching to diesel engines.

It has not been extra warm been pretty normal here. but snow wise we haven't has hardly any. 1 4 inch blanket early October I think. And the last couple weeks maybe 4 inches total. nothing in between! I would not call it "global warming". Just wonder where the heck all the snow is??? Of course, your cold is much much colder! our lows are usually around -5 in winter at an extreme. Has not got that low this year.

I dropped my pickup headers off to have them high temp coated. It'll be a flat black finish.

They were pretty rusty, so I hope there aren't some holes found while blasting them. Nobody asked too much about them and they're probably going to wonder why I dropped off two right side headers (if they don't know they're for an inline six).

    Went to indoor range
I think I have shown this before? Sporterized Luger
Supposedly by Dewey (of Dewey cleaning rods)

Rear site moved to toggle, barrel by Dewey, taller front sight due to higher rear sight, some jeweling and ported

Very fun to shoot and preserves my other 2 artillery models (one safe Queen and one semi-queen)

That's a nice barrel. Plenty of hand room. It'd work great for pistol whipping when empty.

I got a ten mile bike ride in Wednesday and a 25 mile ride in yesterday. I've got to work back up to where a 100 miles is no sweat.

    Attachment 266546Attachment 266547

I had a new glass for the blasting cabinet cut today and got the new repop metal battery tray in for my '79 F150.

The headers were also finished and I picked them up.

Installing the intake and headers on this are a PITA and really need six hands. I marked the gasket by putting it on the headers and intake separately. This is the only way to ensure stuff at least closely lines up. There aren't really any bolts, it's mostly held on by clamps and many of those are General Motors ones from other engines I had.

What appears to be an alignment hole is just an April Fools joke.

I got to a stopping point after manhandling the headers in place.

    Attachment 266553

I didn't want to drain the cooling system to remove the intake, which is why it's still there.

The thing is, at least with these headers, I can remove the OE size starter without removing the headers (I know for a fact). That isn't true for other brands out there. As crappy as these are, I wouldn't want to sacrifice that feature as I've had to replace a starter in a parking lot already.

    Headers look nice!

Took a trip to the bike store today, i think my sons getting that Grom- also the wife wants one we're checking too see if the toy funds allows it.
Couple pics for u guys- there's a few nice bikes up on those racks against the wall. That china 125 with tracks looks like it'd be a fun ride. The dealer says he's having a hard time keeping up with stock, says this last yr to now is the busiest he's been in a LONG time.
