Atc 250r compatible engines

Looking for other 2 stroke engine options for a 1983/84 ATC250r preferably drop in no frame mods.

It would be a little tough since they're right hand drive. Most are left hand drive.

Because trying to find parts for this thing has been a pain in the ass, would like to find a newer engine to slap in it with parts that aren't damn near impossible to find.

It doesn't work that way. You'd have a much bigger project on your hands cramming the wrong engine in there than you would trying to source parts for the correct engine. If you're frustrated either calm down and make some connections in the community or send the bike along to someone with more patience. There's a lot of reasons why another engine is going to be difficult. General engine fitment for one, exhaust, intake clearance, and the lack of a counter balance if you use a bike engine.

Thanks for your input, however I would like to stay on topic. I "love" custom jobs so I would like a list of modern right hand shaft engines please. Modifying the frame isn't out of the question.

If you're the fabricator you're trying to portray yourself as then put whatever you want in there. I put a CR480 engine in my 84 ATC250R chassis.

Not a machinist, but I have a 3 in one mig/stick/tig and can use it well enough to make the frame take a different shape. Thanks, I'll add the CR480 to my potential donors.

If I remember, that isn't a drop in either. I also seem to recall that Fabio's 480 may stretch your arms a little if you ride it for very long. It's also not a newer engine. It was made in '82 and '83 if I recall. Honda used a lot of right hand drive engines inn the later 70's and early 80's. It may not be much easier to find parts for them either.

No matter what you find, the kick start will be the wrong direction also.
