350X Axle, Carrier, Sprocket pictures and such

I have been seeing a lot of questions and speculation regarding 350X rear ends lately.
Since I just pulled my wheels to mount my new Cheetah rears, I thought I'd take some pictures of my setup.
Might answer some questions, might raise some new ones.

Below is my Durablue axle which I bought from a member here.
When I installed it, I ran out of either threads or splines and I could not tighten it down.
I asked the previous owner and he told me he had made a spacer to get it to fit.

Next picture shows the custom spacer.
It was an old socket (~1-1/2") cut down and reamed out (by yet another 3WW member).
It did the trick, but still doesn't explain why I had to make a custom spacer on a part designed for this trike.

Now let's move to the sprocket side.
My stock 85 carrier was junk, so I purchased this aftermarket double row carrier (86 style).
Still has what appear to be 85 sprocket and bolts, so not sure how this fit, but it does.

Just to clarify, this is my 400cc big bore 350X.
Here is the entire build thread:

Also a couple pictures of it in action from last year at Summit Indoor in Ohio.
Many of you will recognize a couple 3WW members.

Inexplicably I am ahead of Andy (Crazy70man) wearing the yellow and blue helmet. I'm sure you'll never see that on a track again.
Not sure who the rider trailing us is. His number plate says #111, so possibly Jackie Meadows??

Well, the sprocket hub is clipped and determines the exposed length.

If the other side needed spacers, something is not 350X correct.

But if it works with a spacer, who cares....

I'll contribute as well to help clarify a few things.
Honda 300ex axles do fit in a 350x bearing carrier. The rear sprocket will be misaligned to the outside of the front sprocket if using a 300ex sprocket hub. Solution is to use spacers or washers to space it out correctly. I haven't heard of much success in removing a 350x sprocket hub off a 350x axle or of installing said sprocket hub onto a 300ex axle, if the spline count is the same.

Durablue currently offers oem length and widened 350x specific axles. Best bet for guaranteed fit. Durablue 300ex eliminator series axles will fit, and best of all, durablue produces a 350x sprocket hub that they can install on the 300ex axle for proper sprocket alignment. Durablue is the only company that I am aware of that produces a 350x sprocket hub and it is proprietary splines so it will only work with durablue axles. Their sprocket hub will mount the rear sprocket on the outside of the hub and they supply bolts for bolting sprocket on. It will use 85 style sprockets with straight holes, no taper. It will also work with 85 or 86+ bearing carriers.

I have a Tusk 300ex axle on my 350x. You do need spacers. 1/2" worked perfect. Have had no issues over the last 2 years. Bolts were grade 10 and have held up perfect. With my offset billet 400ex hubs I'm approx 10" wider than OEM. My motor is mild so maybe some caution with big bore motors? But I have a lot of hard trail riding and some weekends in the sand. My (possibly unwanted ) .02 cents

Sorry, for the confusion. After re-reading what I had originally typed, I realize it was worded poorly and the meaning got twisted. Let me try again:

"In this photo, I am leading Crazy70man. Take a good look because that is the only time I have ever been ahead of him on a track. I am a fairly average racer, while Andy is supremely talented and ultra fast. If I had to make a comparison, he is like Speedy Gonzalez riding a cheetah, so it isn't likely you'll see me riding out front of him anytime soon."

I had a custom machined sprocket spacer for my 300 ex dominator plus 4 axle in 350x west coast build. My buddy made it.

Have any pictures of it? I considered going this route but decided with the durablue setup.

Here is the picture of CRAZY70MAN's sprocket spacer. Pretty trick! As with everything he owns, it is labeled with a Sharpie. So who made this?...... and what does it say exactly?

Well that was a lie too.

Now........ if only we could get past this #75 racer on the ATC200. That guy is so fast, we can't get past on our moderately modified 250Rs.

I'd take one if he can. Let me know price with shipping to Southern California. I have spacers on my Tusk axle and while I have no issues I'd feel better with that.
