    Multiple Questions For The Experts

Good morning everyone. My 1981 Honda 200 ATC's engine blew, and I just installed my new one from Ebay (thing looks so clean, like it's not from '81!) Anyways, I have a few questions if anyone could help me out:

    1. While removing the exhaust to install the new engine, the exhaust broke where it connects to the muffler. Due to rust, it was probably holding on by a feather until I tried to remove it. I connected the section to the cylinder, but cannot slide the muffler on anymore. Is it ok to ride like this until I can figure out how to snorkel it? Or does anyone want to sell an exhaust?
    2. Engine starts but idles rough and sporadically and then cuts off. I assume carb issue and needs tuning, but could the exhaust muffler not connected cause this on such a small engine? Also, when I was looking into the carb yesterday I noticed this carb does not have a pilot jet. I wanted to make sure the jets weren't clogged and didn't see it next to the main jet. Does this model not have a pilot jet?!
    3. Can anybody recommend a good O-ring kit to order online? I noticed many shops don't have metric o-rings. I have a Honda 3-wheeler and a Honda Shadow motorcycle so occasionally need them.

    Thanks for any help!

It will run with just the head pipe but not very well .
Shindy brand on the carburetor rebuild kit and it should definitely have a small jet , the earlier carbs might be pressed in .

Thanks for the reply. The carb must be original from '81 and next to the mainjet is just a brass hollow tube.

That brass hollow tube is pressed in , you can GENTLY pull it out with a pair of small channel lock pliers and clean it .

Ahhh ok thanks! So is this the same as a pilot jet where the tiny hole can get clogged? Or does it not have a tiny hole like usual (sorry at work and can't check my carb).

Also, does anyone know if the Honda o-rings would be in this kit? For example, the o-ring on the axle for rear brake drum, or the o-ring on the cylinder-side mouth of the carb?

The muffler should not affect how the engine runs significantly, but you should repair it soon.

I have the same O-ring kit. I rarely have a situation where the O-ring does not fit, and generally by a small margin.
If they do NOT fit, you can cut the O-ring to size and use super glue to connect the free ends. Super glue works via an anaerobic reaction, so the two connected ends will stand up fairly well, even to solvents and gasoline. There are also glues/ adhesives designed for this.
    I generally use Prinz 406

That said, any Type II glue will work. It is the same glue used in 'cut to size' kits.

Thanks for the advice. I bought the o-ring kit with same day delivery and the orings were too thick. I had one that was the right diameter for the carb mouth but it was too thick unfortunately. Now my carb bowl is leaking pretty bad out of one of the screws. I have the float bowl o-ring but I guess it's just worn out. Would yall recommend keeping the o-ring in it and putting Permatex blue RTV sealant on top/to the sides of the oring, screw it back together, and letting it sit overnight to fix the leak? It'd take too long to order rebuild kit and still ride on Thursday. Do you also put a sealant once it's screwed back together along the crack on the outside?
