350X Right Side case question. Are they the same for 85-86???

Is the 85-86 Clutch side case the same for both years? I know the cable routing is different on an 85 vs 86, but is the right side case the same?
Reason being is I notice a crack in mine when it was off.

    Thanks!

They usually crack when they are forced on. The cam pawl for the decompression gets in the way.

You can use an 86 cover, just change out the clutch pivot arm.

Just swing it out of your way, get a small punch and knock out the spring pin just past the spring. It will release and you can finish the job and install it all in your new 86 cover.....

I guess you weren't sure what I meant.

THE COVERS ARE THE SAME!! BUT, The angle of the clutch arm pivot is off.

The ANGLE of the clutch cable pull determines the clutch arm with the correct arm positioning for either 85 or 86.

I'm sure an 85 hole could be filled and re-drilled at the right angle but it seems you may have broke yours so just use that arm/link/pin.

I saw your clutch post. Did you force this cover on and crack it?? We've all screwed up something, no big deal as long as you know what went wrong; But, if you don't line up the decompression lever by rotating it clockwise while putting the cover on, it'll bind.

The thrust washers placement and the right amount of you rotating the clutch decompression pivot should allow it to drop in, get it over the dowels perfect, not a drop of daylight in the case covers.

I grease all my clutch cover gaskets so I can re-use them. I grease all my bolts too, everything is more waterproofed and can come out in the future. I have done this for 20 years; All my trikes come apart pretty quick...

Thanks for the reply. I ordered a used 85 cover off ebay for 24.99 with free shipping. I also order new seals, and a decompression lever, cabe etc from cheapcyclcleparts. After ordering the used cover off ebay, i saw the new used cover came with one so i now have an extra. I was hoping to take my clutch arm from my 86 cover and put it in the 85 cover. When i put the old cover on, it went on fine, but i notice it was a little tighter on the side of the kick starter. First sign . It finally went it without smacking it or hitting it. I should have known when i went to kick it over it was a little stiff. I should have stopped. I didnt line up the lever. When i kcked down i heard a click inside then it got easy to kick over. Im sure thats when the decopression lever broke and cracked the case.
