    250SX w/Transmission issue- Should I buy?

    I've been wanting another SX for quite a while. One just came up for sale in my area. It's pretty cheap, but the guy says it makes a grinding sound in reverse. Is this normally a "crack the engine case" type of repair? Because if it is, I'm just going to walk on by...

    Well, the point just became moot. The seller decided to fix it himself first, and then he said he will put it up for sale again. Maybe I dodged a bullet. Wasn't looking for another huge project anyway...

    must be something with the reverse gear or it seems like it would do it all the time...you dodged a bullet imo.
