    Tire spinning on rim

As the title says my one tire keeps spinning on the rim. You guys on here have any ways to stop this problem? I could just push the valve stem back in the rim, but then I can't add or lower tire pressure. I also heard you could put sheet metal screws in the side of the rim, but I don't realy want to do that.

Dismount the tire clean real well, then when you remount use clear silicone on the bead. Sticks great.

Well shoot. Why didn't I think of that? I plan on using brake clean to clean the rim.

As long as the bead and rim are clean. Is there any need to put silicone etc? I know people run low PSI. 2(?)

Typically there is no need for silicone. I do use bead sealer on rusty rims that I have wire brushed, just as a precaution..

I don't understand how a tire can spin on the rim. Every tire I've taken off has been a bich breaking the bead, not to mention I've driven on punctured tires that were flat and never had them come off of the rim.

Are you sure the bead is set?

    How old is the tire?

Are the rims on an 80 185 different than the rims on my 84 200S?

I have no Idea how old the tire is.
I would think the bead is wore out, but it is a huge pain in the to brake the bead.
I would think I'm running around 7 psi.
The tire spins just the small amount to cut or rip off the valve stem.
The 185 has a two piece rim.

I took the tire off the rim all the way today and found that the sides of the rim where rusty and ruff. I guess I didn't see that when I took it off the first time. I took a wire brush and use my dremel tool very lightly to clean it up. I would have thought the tire shop would have cleaned the rim up so there would be no issues. It kind of looks like on the one side some one half butted and try to clean it a little.
