Have wanted to try it since 8th or 9th grade (1985ish) when some seniors in my school sunk a i believe it was a 1984 honda oddessy in about 45' of lake water by my house, it fell through the ice. As far as i know was never retrieved. Thinking about it now it was probably stolen anyway.
At the other end of the same lake in about 8-10' feet of mucky swamp area i know for a fact there is a 250 bigred not sure of yr.
sadly im sure both machines are probably part of the lake bottom now. Maybe i'll go looking someday.
Problem is the lake never gets low or is drained enough to see anything.

Think, this is what magnet fishing could find. If this is what your talking about.

I once spent an hour magnet fishing for my truck keys off a boardwalk on the Frasier river in the dark. I lost my dads good 25lb magnet under some rocks but recovered my keys with the spare he brought and a lucky glint off the flashlight.

Ive never found anything of great value but it can be fun. sadly many things that are small and worth good money arent magnetic such as real gold like necklaces bracelets ect... We had to use this method once when my friend sunk his old john deere liquifire in the middle of winter on the mohawk and the DEC found out around early spring. they were going to charge him something like 100$ a day until it was removed. the mohawk isnt very deep but its nasty murky and full of weeds so it was hard to locate.
Sure was funny watching him when he sunk. there was about 2 inches of ice and he had to smash his way to shore. luckily he got to safety or it wouldnt have been so funny.

A buddy at work goes a lot. He loves it. He finds some interesting stuff. He goes along old rail lines. He's gotten some old gears and some old ornate cast iron fence post toppers. Lots of railroad spikes. He makes stuff out of his finds. Its interesting.

    What lake shep? Quin-sig?

    Lake whitehall
I remember seeing the oddessy cruising the sand pit nearby all summer/fall then it vanished that next winter- Was said it sunk in too deep of water to retrieve. Only one end of this lake is that deep. (Found to be true story) later on.

A younger brother of a friend had a bigred he always tried to cross parts of the lake with it (small coves) well apparently it didnt make it. Gone/didnt float never to be seen again. I remember his dad was so pissed. Thats all i got. Kinda know where that one is but im sure there cant be much left.

Shep you might be surprised being under water will actually slow the decay and if it is in fact really far down the cold will slow it even further. I remember watching a video of an old steam shovel that had been under water since like 1900 and it was rusted but they cleaned it up and restored it. not sayin that either one will be like new but you might be amazed at what would be salvageable.

That may very well be the most polarizing statement I have heard today.
