    250R Head Problem and question????

My 250R got new 38mm air stryker carb and new silencer, today. I went to dial in the carb and was riding when the damn coolent spewed everywhere. I stop and go to check it and the water jacket on top of the head had come out of the head. I went to put it b ack in and now it is bubbling around where it had been put back in.

Well, this head has a very large dome in it. It is a stock head with a large dome, larger than my other head. I have a 2nd parts motor and this is the other head that I am referring to. What will having a smaller dome do to my performance? I appreciate any help!

A stock 250R head is a one-piece design and it's dome only comes in 1 size. The cylinder has the water jacket, not the head. The head has water ports. I believe you're using the wrong terminology to describe your problem and it isn't making any sense to anyone, so we really can't help without knowing what the problem is.

If it is an aftermarket head with interchangeable domes, then a smaller dome will raise your compression.

I wondered about this thread, I believe he is talking about where the radiator hose conects to the head. That piece does come out of the stock head. I have one that pual turner modified before cool heads were available and they welded that part to the head so it couldn't come out. They also resized the chamber to 24cc. If he is talking about a stock head he may have one of these that has been rechambered to a larger cc.

Yeah maybe I am using the wrong terminology. The water inlet on the actual head is leaking. It looks like the head has been shaved a little and the dome is alot larger than the other stock one that I have on my spare motor. Could I have someone weld this water inlet in place so that it doesn't leak? The 2nd head that I have the water inlet will not move, so I think I'll use that head until I can get the other head fixed.
