    Help ..250 Recon engine noise

I just put a another bottle end on this 2016 250 Recon.. it has a tapping noise and everything looked good and tight on the bottom end. I adjusted the valves and it's definitely not that. It did have wear on the Piston skirt and and the bottom of the cylinder, I only put new rings and Piston pin but did not bore the cylinder and just cleaned up the Piston skirt the best I could.. would this make that tapping sound? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_6GynSW-oL0

Could be piston slap , were you able to inspect the timing and oil pump chains ?

Yes , the replacement bottom end had good timing/oil pump chains but I put new ones in anyway. And the crank was good and tight, no play

thanks shortline10... I'm with you, it must be Piston slap due to worn cylinder/Piston... I just don't think it could be anything else.. I'm about to spend $200 on a brand new cylinder n piston.. I need to be sure before I spend any more on it

With that amount of noise I would think it would be obvious when you pull the top end apart and start measuring .
The auto timing chain tensioners do go bad and they can make the same type of noise but I would pull the top end first .

Fixed it! Runs like brand new! It was Piston slap , I installed a brand new cylinder, Piston and rings. Sounds perfect!
