When I changed the clutch in my 350X it slipped bad when I first tried it out, I had to disassemble it and then the problem was obvious. I bet once you get in there you'll figure it out. Somers isn't too far, once this whole social distancing stuff is over I'd be happy to come over and help if you still haven't fixed it.

from what I can understand, the clutch cable is not adjusted right. On the perch, screw in the adjuster all the way(leaving alot of adjustment) loosen the nuts on the threaded shaft and see where things go. What should happen in the arm should have alot of movement, you can push it some until it can't go anymore. After that, use a pair of pliers and move the arm toward the front of the bike, it will move ~1/2", remove pressure and it should spring back to the back. If it does that, with adjust nuts loose(one in the way back and other in the front of the threaded shaft), pull the cable(not hard) and where it stops, move the front nut to the front of the hoop and rear nut to the back. Now your cable is adjusted correctly. Any fine tuning is done the the adjuster on the perch.
