Christmas shopping ATC style

So its coming to that time again. Need to get some parts for my daughters 200s for Christmas. Later year I got all the stuff to build her engine, a pair of Lock on grips and some stickers. The grips turned all gooey. They leave black crud all over her hands or gloves.

So I want to get her new grips and new handle bars. Any suggestions? I need bars that keep her in a comfortable position for our long trail rides next summer. And grips that are more like the original rubber which last longer and don't turn to marshmallow. I know now if I had asked some questions last year I would have saved some dough.

I would go back with OEM Honda grips of your staying with oem handlebars. Those grips last quite a long time.

Babbits Online, Partzilla, or Honda of Troy would have them if they are still available. If they aren't, then take the oem part number from there and search it on eBay and you might find a pair of them NOS. I think you can still get the OEM hard plastic handlebar ends too.

If you're changing the bars, then I got nothing because what works for me, doesn't mean it's best for anyone else. I'd just get a tape measure and a stick and make mock bars with the stick. Have her hold it wherever feels comfortable, and measure to the top tree of the frontend and how far apart she likes her hands to be. Then go find the bars that best match those measurements online or a catalog like Tucker Rocky or WPS (for best selection)

I have some bolt on grips on my 250SX. I wasn't that impressed with them although the concept seemed great. I had to sand the paint off of the stock bars and then the grips still barely fit over them. In the position that I kept it in my garage, the sunlight would shine in the south window and the right grip did the same as hers. They were also pretty hard feeling. I haven't replaced them yet, but I will before it gets very far into riding season next year. There's a pretty wide variety of grips for not too much money on Ebay. I just gave $11.95 for a pair of Scott full waffle grips to put on a friend's TRX300FW when I convert it to a twist throttle. I doubt that it will get used a whole lot since he had a stroke and now can squeeze his right hand but not release it on it's own. That's also the reason that I'm putting the twist throttle on it and I'm going to put a Polaris master cylinder on the left side for the front brakes. His left hand and right foot still work just fine so he'll be able to use the left hand for the front brakes and his right foot for the rear brakes.

Thanks guys. I am definitely going with OEM grips they just last longer. Still haven't decided on bars yet but I still have a little time. Ordered a new Kenda front max tire, one way clutch, and grips.

I bought these grips last year and they turned into a sticky mess. Have you had good luck with them? Maybe mine were made with a bad batch of rubber? I am going to contact the manufacturer and see what they say.

Get some OEM grips and then use compressed air to install them dry onto clean bars.

Ordered new Honda grips, new bars, fork boots, front tires Honda sweatshirt, helmets, some other miscellaneous parts. It a Honda Christmas Charlie Brown.
