Hard to imagine the 250R cost more to build than a 350X, I guess that was the speed tax of the day.
Canadian dollar was worth $0.82 to $0.86 to a green back in the 80’s.

Yeah big jump from 85 250r sold for 2635 and listed in 87 was 4200.

Teaching quads a lesson
Kind of funny that there is a price set for a three wheeler that supposedly wasn't built (1987 250R). Kind of like my Honda 350X manual that lists the model identifications for '85 and "after '85" instead of saying "'86".

There must have been a big difference in exchange rate between Canadian and American then. I only payed $1650 for my '86 200X.

I remember my parents saying they gave $1500-1600USD for an 85 250ES (Big Red).
$900 for an 82 110
