200ES Questions
Just picked up a 1984 200ES for $600 today. Would say it was worth the 4 hour round trip, lol. Needs work. Anyways, I have a few questions. I did a simple carb clean to get it running smoothly, as it didn't run right at the sellers house when I was looking at it. Got it to run right, but the idle mixture jet under the carb is turned in as far as it will go, and runs the best at that setting. Doesn't seem right to me, seeing as though I've done carb adjustments on my 125 before and that would surely make it die immediately. It also seems like it's breaking up at higher RPMS with no load. I can get on it down the street and pulls the whole way. Any ideas? Based on the exploded front fork diagrams I've seen, we've come to the conclusion that it looks like a 200M front end was put on at one point. The front end does cycle up and down. I know this class bike have issues with the front forks not working and can't get parts for them. The seller installed new fork boots before listing it. Any way I can keep these shocks from seizing up just like all the others? And are the parts interchangeable from a 200M front end and a 200ES front end? Because it needs a front fender along with some other misc stuff on the front forks. I have a shop manual on the way as well btw. Thanks
