    1985 Honda ATC 110 jetting help

    How's it going guys, I am having a problem with the running of my trike. The bike runs perfect at idle no problem choke on or off, but idle increases when choke goes off, also will break up bad with no choke. This makes me believe the bike is running really lean, I am running stock jetting 82 main and 35 idle jets. I know there are jet kits that could be bought to richen the carb, but I am curious will jet kit say from size 80 to 158 fit a array of carburators like a crf 150 and such? We have tried moving needle to richen the mixture but will not run right, will run perfect with choke on. If anyone knows what a good remedy would be, and if the main jets will fit multiple different trikes and bikes it would be appreciated.

    If the bike is remotely stock it will run on the stock jetting provided the rest of the carb is clean and working properly.

    Make sure you don't have any leaks between the carb and the engine too, air leaks there will lean it out, gas needs to be reasonably fresh, doesn't hurt to check your valve adjustment too so you're not fighting multiple issues at once.

    Jet kits are carburetor series/type specific, Mikuni and Keihin both make lots of different styles of pilot/slow jet and main jet. Your local motorcycle shop/dealer should have the common ones in stock, if not I usually use Jets-R-Us, they have pics/dimensions so you can be sure you're buying the right style.

    I agree with trikekid, if your 110 is remotely stock it will do fine on stock jets. Is this a stock OEM carb? Are you running a stock air box or a pod style filter?

    I will have to double check the gasket from manifold to carb, the manifold to engine gasket is new. I did adjust the valves about a week ago and did help the running condition. I also just cleaned out the carb really good with carb cleaner, a piece of wire, and compressed air making sure all passages were clear. I will have to give jets r us a look at to see if I can piece something together.

    It is a stock carb and running a stock box/filter, it will only run full choke, I will have to check for leaks but as far as I know it does not have any though.

    When it's idling, spray some carb cleaner all around the intake from the air box to the engine. All around every joint/seam. Even all over each rubber hose. If you have an air leak, the carb cleaner should make the engine rev up higher when it hits the leak.

    I had forgotten about your exhaust post. What exhaust are you running? Your rotten one with a bunch of hole sin it? If so, then that can/will make the engine run lean. The holes will give the exhaust less restriction so it will flow better than stock. That would be your lean problem. Just like running an aftermarket exhaust.

    I didn't think that the exhaust would be causing a lean problem but now that you mention it, it would be getting less back pressure. I do have a carb off an atc 185 with I believe a 98 jet in it that I do believe would fit but I think that would be way to much of a jump in size to work and would richen it way to much. What size range do you think would be the happy middle ground?

    I am running a stock patched together exhaust that helped get some pressure out the tail but the amount is slim.
