    350X added to my ATC's

I recently bought this from a friend. It seems to be a mix of 85 & 86 parts. Had a blast riding it this past weekend.

    I really like that seat.

Most people may think about it being more comfortable because it's thicker, but the extra height really saves the knees when having to transition a lot between standing and sitting. Trikes are pretty cramped in stock form.

The red seat, fuel tank and red powder coated frame and swing arm were already there when I bought it.
Through some research I have figured out that this is a 1986 frame, swingarm and forks with a 1985 engine and front wheel.
The clutch cable does route on the left side of the engine like a 1986 should so maybe the engine is a mix of 85 and 86 parts.
When I bought it I was able to ride it. The engine seemed to run good with no smoke but the carburation seemed off and it was really difficult to start.
Upon further inspection I could see that the original carb was simply worn out.
More story to come. A few pics as it progressed.

I started working on this 350X in November of 2022. A short time later I got involved in a home remodel and several other projects on my property so progress has been very slow.
I started at the front and worked my way back. Front wheel bearings and brake pads were needed. None of the OEM front brake hose hardware was on it.
I found all of those front brake hose hardware parts on fakebook from an 86 350X that was destroyed during the Consent decree fiasco.
New blue fork boots were added as well as a fork oil change.

A noticed an oil smell when riding a there seemed to be a slight oil leak somewhere near the top end.
I decided to check the valve cover bolts to make sure those were the correct length for the location.
This took some time but using a parts diagram and calipers I got the right bolts in the right place. I had to order several bolts to get this right.
My next move was to flush out the oil cooler. I had a previous experience with oil sludge building up in an oil cooler on a diesel so I wanted to eliminate any issue with this cooler so I flushed it out with kerosene.
Lots of sludge in this cooler too. This was also a common problem on the 2004-2005 TRX450R oil cooler as well and probably why Honda did not use the cooler from 2006-2014.
While the carb was off I had the oil in the rear shock changed and painted the shock spring.
Also replaced the CCV and then moved onto the TRX400EX carb install.
