    ATC185S and 200S parts interchange

I have an opportunity to buy a 200S parts bike. There is not much left but there is a factory honda rear rack. I would like to put that onto my 1985 185S but I do not know if that is a direct bolt on.
Also this guy has some version on a ATC200 but I can not tell which one from the photos. I am guessing a 1984 200S but not certain. Not a big red for sure. I was thinking about using that muffler on the 185S.
Also not sure if it will fit. Anyone tried these swaps before?

pretty sure the exh is the same front the 200s and 185s. I think the mounts a little different from yhe 200s to the 185s. the 185s rear part of the frame bends down about 15 degrees, the 200s comes straight out. jim

Not to mention that you don't have a 1985 ATC185S. The last year that they were made was 1983. Like Jim said, you may be able to make the rack work, but it most likely won't be a bolt on swap.

I think the 200s bar is wider too. I took a extra 185s grab bar, cut it in half, stuck a rod in the middle and bolted it to my 200s before I sold it. jim

Yes, I did not have my glasses on and typed a 5 instead of a 3. So the rear grab bar on the 200S is wider than the 185s?

I would think the gaskets from a Honda XL185s motorcycle would also fit.

since this old thread got revived, I did find a rack for my 83 185s. Took it from a 1981 185s.

I think those are some of the more difficult racks to find. Maybe 250SX racks, complete, are more difficult, but either of those racks I've seen less of than others.

Racks are not compatible in the least. The 185S racks are designed to stay on the bike while the seat/rear fenders are removable. The 200S does not have removable rear fenders (without removing bolts). The rear rack on the 200S bolts to the frame DOWN THRU the rear fenders. Not compatible.

I had to go back and look, didn't understand this thread was started about rack fitment.

Pretty much no racks interchange on any trikes. Rear ones anyway. Since front forks were the same across some models, those can possibly swap.

As far as a summary of fitment between the 185S and 200S, may as well consider everything from the seat back as different. That's a generalization, because some parts will swap, but not much of what can be seen. The 200S frame even has some extra gussets the 185S doesn't, but those don't change fitment of related parts.

I've got 185S and 200S rear Honda racks, and yes, they don't even look remotely close to the same. Don't need detailed pictures to tell the difference.

Not regarding the load rating, I think I could ride a 200S with a 100# on the rear rack and be OK. That much on a 185S rack would probably have it doing wheelies everywhere, because the rack is so far rearward.
