Slight play in rear wheel hubs 200x

    Hi guys,

I have a set of trx 250 rear wheel hubs from an old project and wanted to put them on my 85 200x, to go a little wider.

They have a tiny amount of play when I rotate them. Checked them on the axle they came off and they have play on there also. When I torque the nut on the 200x the play goes away.

My original hubs are tight on the axle.

Will this amount of play ruin my axle? Cause I don't want that or is this normal when using a different models hubs?

I have that issue with my tri z. The axle splines are wore out I swapped hubs and it still did it. I put silicone on the splines and it keeps them tight for a while. It’s just a band aid until I get an axle your splines are probably worn out too.

The 200x axle and hubs are tight with no play.

Then your issue is probably on the wheel side, not axle. The 250 rims are the problam.

THEY old, put new ones on, 400ex is a good upgrade. They do not last forever, Splines get looser on the hubs before the axle. No axle replacements but 82 atc250r

Thanks. Yeah I ordered a new set of 400ex etc hubs not long after I posted this, as spending the $60 odd dollars was worth the piece of mind.
