1982 ATC 200 pull start to electric start conversion
I have a 1982 ATC 200 plain old pull start model, I wanted to convert to electric start.
I have a parts bike. 1983 200E with a trashed motor, looks like the bottom end blew up. Has a complete wiring harness, rectifier, solenoid, switches etc!
I want to convert the good running motor on the 200 to use the starter from the 200E.
Is it as simple as switching out the left side case on the motors and re-wiring the bike using the 200E harness and mounting a battery tray, and notch the frame to accommodate the starter motor.
Or is it a waste of time to even try.

I just made electric start, manual clutch 200cc (that is my qualification)... You need to use electric start crankshaft (longer snout), left/center case from 200m (for chain output), or 200E left/center case (with hi/lo), shift drum(for extended neutral indicator shaft) ....... You would be better off buying a 84/85 ATC200M lower end. FYI:1984 has 5 down shift pattern, 1985 has 5 up shift pattern
