1985 big red 250 front tire rub
I just bought this bike not long ago And have slowly been working on it. So while the front Was disassembled so I could do the brakes I repainted the forks and put new boots on because the old ones were tore all to pieces. When I got the bike back together, I noticed the tire was rubbing and it looked like it had been rubbing a while. That’s probably what tore the boots up. Is there a certain size tire That goes in the front?

Even though they might be labeled as being the same size, some tires are wider than others. You probably need to find a narrower tire for the front. From what I've seen, mud tires and other aggressive tires seem to be made wider.

..Thinking outside of the box here : an alternative to having a tire with a row of knobs on each side rubbing your fork boots is to carefully cut those knobs off the tire sides that are rubbing the boots with new razor blades. Also using a hair dryer (or, "heat gun") to heat up the knobs to soften them for the cutting.
Partzilla shows the original tire size to be 25" x 12.0" - 9 like it does for my 1983 ATC200E BigRed, but I put 22"x11"-9 tires on all 3 of my BigRed wheels and I sourced them from my local Tractor Supply store
