Just got a '79 ATC110 for some fun

Got a pretty clean '79 for a great price. It wouldn't idle and I could tell the mixture was wrong, so off came the carb and the idle jet was completely clogged Chinese $20 special. Cleaned it and all is good, runs like a champ and has 150 compression, I'm sort of surprised at that. I have worked on a lot of bikes from Norton to Ducati to HondaKawaYamaZuki and the most similar was a '74 ST90 'Trailsport' which also had a cheapo carb that worked just fine. It's ready for the sandy Mojave desert just to putter around.

Pretty clean little bike for the few bucks I threw at it. I'm into restoring big Japanese 4's normally as they are cheap and plentiful - GS1100E's from the early 80s being a fave.

That's a pretty nice looking machine. You'll have a lot of fun with it, just not at a high rate of speed. The amount of fun that you have all depends on your attitude.

Thanks, I have been working on it, valves had no lash, carb was set way off. Runs good but has a knock. Maybe rod bearings. For the money it cost I don't really care, I can rebuild it no problem. I posted a video on the main tech area, I think it needs approval though. Pretty sloppy movement on the crank. It goes fine but I wouldn't want to let it eat itself if there's bearing problems. It's really my son's but I do the wrenching due to my experience. Good learner for him.
