    Galveston?

Hey guys: I have always wanted to ride a three wheeler on the beach, it's very high up on my bucket list. Well...I am going to Houston next weekend and was wondering if anyone knew of any beaches around Galveston that I could ride on? Anything close? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The purpose of the trip is not to ride but if there is a place to ride-I could travel with 3 wheels in the back of the truck and make it happen.

I have emailed the sheriff's office down there and waiting for a response. I get conflicting information from the internet.

It has occurred to me that if I am able to pull this off-I will be one of the first-If not the very first person ever to ride a 3 wheeler in the Gulf of America!

Like Larry Bird did in '85, I needed to choose my weapon for the Gulf of America journey.

And the "Red Headed Stranger" is going back to Texas.

I have to clean it up because it has been in the back of the pile lately.

I also have to put some tank shrouds on it and fix a few things:

And I might put these paddles on that I found in the shed to replace the 18 inch tires that are on it now.

Maybe Bolivar is possible. It looks like there's a ferry from Galveston to there.

I found a 2022 video on their city website that has an officer on it, talking about Golf Carts, OHVs, and ATVs. I kid not, the guy in the video even says "three wheelers".

    https://www.bolivarpeninsulatexas.co...ivar-Peninsula

Of course, that was 2022, so it needs confirmed if still the same. Also, it looks like a minimum of a Texas OHV registration/decal is needed just about anywhere in the state. From what I've read, there may be some vehicle equipment requirements, but that may just be front and rear lights, spark arrestor, parking brake, flag (for beach riding) and mirror. Maybe having a manual transmission would pass for the parking brake. In a pinch, you can usually pick a flag up at Wal-Mart, in the bicycle section.

OHV registration, spark arrestor, lights, and a mirror are pretty common minimum requirements across the US.

A bit further south, there's Matagorda Beach. Here's some links I found for there.

I emailed the po po at Bolivar and they said all good. But with timing and hotels and such, I am going to west beach in Galveston. I think I'll be alright-If not, let me get about 20 minutes riding and then give me a ticket.

I have the sticker thing worked out, I think I am going to be good. I ordered a flag today but will probably have to go the wal mart route.

    Looking forward to this.

If you've read some of the same information I have, tickets can range from something like $50-$500.

Best I could tell, as long as it's not on pavement, it'll be a lesser fine.

I did look at bit a Galveston, but it seemed like their beachfront only allows road licensed vehicles.

One thing I done was look at pictures from the area, searching for UTVs and ATVs, or at least the tire tracks. Also, at the parking areas for signs about what is and isn't allowed.

The only thing I know for sure is to watch out for the freaking jellyfish on the beach. Those things can be everywhere and you'll step on one if not paying attention.

Well, I got the axle holder studs fixed, changed the oil, adjusted the chain (was missing a hex bolt?), paddles on, installed cotter pins on rear wheels (both missing) and cleaned it up a little.

And I loaded it up and left.

Stopped at a place in Gilmer, TX to buy OHV-off road decals and saw this sign going in.

Who knew-commies in Texas...(They were actually good folks)

And yes, I had my fenders zip tied and secure.

Got my stickers and traveled on toward the coast-not knowing for sure where I was going or if I was going to be able to ride.

    Made it to the coast:

Headed toward west beach and stopped. to get gas. I saw a lady eating a spam sandwich on a SXS. I asked where I could ride and she gave me directions. "Don't go over the bridge but right before you get to it turn off the road"

    So that's what I did.

    Mission Accomplished!

Super cool place to ride, law was not a problem, wasn't crowded at all (Feb 1), and as fun as the double mint twins!!

A few 4 wheelers, dirt bikes and SXS's but the 3 wheeler caught all the attention and thumbs ups. Many people asked "what is it?"

That's great it all worked out.

I feel like you went during the better time of the year, not the 110f+ time of year.
