    New project

Hello from Arizona, I'm new to the three wheeler world and looking for some pointers. I have some mechanical DIY from vehicles and motorcycles but this is my first trike.
It's a 85 ATC70 and it's been in my wife's family for decades, unfortunately it has ran in many years. So I told my father in-law I want to get it running for him again.
    What I know so far.
    1. 100 psi compression but no spark
    2. I cleaned all the rust out of the tank and discovered a pinhole leak on the side.
    3. I got a new carb coming from Thailand
    4. I was able to shift through all the gears but even in neutral the rear tires are locked up. Could the brake be froze?
I got lots of other parts that I need to source to get this little guy up and running.
I hope to keep you all posted during this journey.
    Thanks

Welcome to the forum! With a 100psi she should start no problem, you will have to most likely replace or check the condenser and points to be able to get spark, although I see the kill-switch is broken (above the thumb throttle) so that might be the culprit in this case. The rust on the tank is normal and should be fix up ok with some JB weld and you can also line the tank but alternatively you can buy a reproduction tank from SERWA if you want to stick to original and do a full restore, they also make reproduction tyres for this machine and a few other parts. What is wrong with the current carb you have on there? The back brakes do freeze up from rust and standing so that is most likely why she is frozen. Luckily you will find all the parts needed to fix her up. There is a great group on Facebook called: ATC 70 Honda Trikes and parts where you will get all the help and parts you need. Alternatively another group called Honda Hoarders is also a great.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely check out those Facebook groups. I had to get a new carb because the old one is missing. My father-in-law doesn't know what happened to it. You were talking about replacing the points and condenser and I see TB makes a little kit that has those and a spark plug. Are those kits worth getting?

Yes those points and condenser kits work well and can replace the old ones with little effort. You also get aftermarket CDI kits these days that they make for these machines. Personally I think if the points system works, it works well.
