Thanks!
I attempted to clean the front brake caliper and ended up ruining the pin seals. They have been saturated in for oil for decades and they finally gave up haha. I’ve since fixed the leaky fork seals but it looks like I need to rebuild the front caliper. Should I mess with what I have or just buy the whole new one off eBay for $65. In leaning towards the new one it comes with pads and everything.

It might be worth saving potential aggravation as other failures are discovered… the seller may offer a “core” charge for your old one too.
One of mine is cracked too. Well, mine are stacked nuts but the ones I just got one of those is cracked.
Honda sells them brand new for about 30$. I bought a dozen (decomp cables) because someday these parts will all be gone.

I have the parts to rebuild them. I used to list them on Ebay and included the 3mm tap. You have to grind out the rivets and replace them with screws. Far better than the China petcocks.

Yep. I bought a new one for my trike as it was missing completely.
Also, the parking brake cable (also missing from mine) but my throttle cable is fine to continue using.
I think the parking brake cable I had to scrounge for (NOS) but the parking brake cable is still available as Steve says.
Sure enough that cable is still available! I would have never dreamed that to be true. Thanks fellas!

Question for you guys, I had the oil cooler removed for sometime. It has drained of oil completely. Do I need to worry about that or just run the engine and add as needed? If that makes sense

That's my plan.
I would think just sitting it would eventually drain down on its own.
Question:
I need some standard rings for my 350X. Either I'll use the 86 piston and jug if its on size, or the 85 one that's out and already confirmed to be on size.
The main question is what rings should I go with? Are the Honda rings "the best" for a stock piston/bore or are there other options I should consider? Stock are around $50 a set and no-name ones are like $10 a set. Perhaps I should find something in the middle that works as well or better than stock with longer life expectancy? I also know things like Moly coated rings require a hone specific to those coated rings, same as TiN rings or CBN rings... all different requirements. This is stock bore, stock piston and stock hone.
I want stock and the knee-jerk is just get Honda rings and be done with it, but I wanted to ask the collective before I dump money...
I would stay with the Honda rings if you are using a Honda piston. I'd be more concerned with your plan to use a random piston into a 40 year old bore. Normal practice is to size the bore to the piston that's being used. Weather that stock bore sized cylinder has been running or kicked around in a box for decades, it surely needs to be at least properly honed to get the rings to seat or your just going to end up with a smokey mess at best.

Yes, Honda piston and cylinder. I will refresh the hone with a ball hone and cutting oil, like usual, but I will not be sizing the bore.
I hope to keep the 86 parts on the trike now, but I have another (85) engine in parts, and that cylinder and piston have been measured per the overhaul manual and they are right on size. Minimal skirt scuffing and little carbon buildup too, so hours were apparently low.
Once my trike is running, I'll be selling off all the surplus parts...
