You lost me there. So, you're saying the later models had bolts that held the disc to the hub, rather than studs/nuts? I switched to countersunk/flathead allen bolts for clearance reasons when I did the inverted forks on my 250R. Those studs were definitely a bit stubborn to remove after all those years.

Well I’m sure mine was studs and u-nuts too, but if you look at the parts fiche, you’ll se the studs for 85 and bolts for 86. I guess we’ll see what they look like when they arrive.

And the studs were set with locktite (or whatever Honda used). I took the other two out and chased the threads. I’m planning a fresh coat of paint in the morning along with the brake disc.

Meanwhile at muppet labs, the triple tree is off the trike. Turns out it has tapered bearings but the grease… it’s clear and adhesive. The grinding noise was actually sticktion I think. I’ll clean that all out and repack them with proper marine grease. They also made a “seal” at the top with a bead of clear silly-cone. That peeled right off thanks to their lack of proper prep.

    Just… wrong.

    I have a spare Enkei front wheel n tire, 1185 date code for a 86 200x I suppose.

Full DG exhaust (aluminum muffler variant)

Set of handlebars with “Honda” pad on the crossbar. No idea what brand they are.

Some of these brake line guides. I bought extras and will go with the best ones I have. I have to check the fiche because one of mine (the bottom one) is black and it doesn’t appear to be “”. I’ll see if there are two part numbers for 85&86 tomorrow.

Rear handle for a cooler or some such. Aluminum I think.

I’ll have some surplus hardware suitable for replating as well.

I can get pictures if anything seems irresistible…

Only one part number for the "clamp, fr. brake hose" so I guess someone use their artistic license to spray the piece black. (at least they did a decent job)

About the black brake line guide, if you're referring to the "curved" one, if I remember correctly, it came that way from Honda. Some sort of plating process (perhaps zinc), I'm guessing, which produced a black/dark olive drab green finish. I remember painting mine silver, to match the forks better.

Yeah, on the bottom brake line guide, it was zinc plated. The paint came right off, and its zinc plated under that. Cleaned up pretty nicely.

It wasn't a black zinc or oxide; it was just painted in the past. In my case at least.

Same. My '86 has bolts for the rotor as well. They still have the yellow paint marks on them from the factory.

Did they locktite those bolts too ? Maybe you dirtwheels haven’t found out if the paint is still on yours but I assume they did.
It seemed like they might have used Hondabond or similar between the disc and hub too, or it was excessive corrosion. It’s gone now either way.

So the bare aluminum has been cleared. It will dry until Monday, then I’ll mask that off and shoot the black. Brake disc is already donenn

Finally confirmed I have an 86 carb. Happy about that as they are not easy to find.

Not happy about the “impact damage” it has however…

In other news: I hope to get the motor out this weekend. Probably won’t but I’m hoping.

I think I need a left mid case besides the left cover. Would those who know better be able to determine if I need a center case or if it’s just the cover?

I didn’t see any mention of the shift lever in your picture-post #2. Although it may work, it’s about an inch too short, which suggests it’s from another model.
Looks like your wanting this to be correct, anyway.
    Btw-congrats on the sweet find

I appreciate the input for sure!

I got “burned” on the rear skid plate because I’m not attuned to the visual differences yet. Once the engine is out, I’ll address those issues. There is a lot of oil on top of the engine so a few issues will be addressed when the top end (at least) comes apart.

Not sure what’s up with the pictures either.

Oil on the top of the engine is probably from the rocker cover. There isn’t a gasket up there, just a light coat of sealant, and most people use the wrong sealant. Also, the bolts that hold it on are small and tend to strip the threads in the head making a leak. All which are very fixable.
It appears you are some kind of machinist, or at least have access to a milling machine. That’s really handy when it comes to modifying old broken parts.
