1985 atc250r axle carrier and axle spindles 400ex/trx250r conversion

Hello all, I just purchased my first 1985 atc250r thats missing a ton of parts. One being the axle. Trying to save money and i have 400ex and 450r swingarms as well as axles. what do I have to do to make this work. Thanks in advance

From what I remember, the 400EX axle will work, but is typically shorter than the OEM 250R axle. The length lost in the shorter 400EX axle, is regained by using the 400EX hubs, which are wider. The 250R hubs will not work with the 400EX axle, as the spline count is different. You'll also need to use the 400EX style rear sprocket & mounting bolts/nuts. I believe a 450R axle will work as well, but will be slightly offset to one side. I'm actually running an RPM Dominator II 450R axle on my '86 250R. It was designed to be used on a 400EX, and has spacer outboard of the rear sprocket hub, to center up the axle in the swingarm.
