never look at marketplace when your bored. 350x for 1200 bucks, I had to go look. turns out to be a 85 with a 400ex motor adapted in there. not running. im trying to decide if finding a 350x motor and getting it back to stock or replacing the 400ex motor with the same and doing it nicer makes more sense, or trade it for some other trike project like a 200x because ive got spare 185s motors to make a auto easier.
Does a 185s motor fit in a 350x chassis? jim

85 engine parts are pretty plentiful.
As long as the frame has not been cut, I'd go that route.
My problem is I have an 86 and there are a lot fewer parts to select from in my case.
I do have an 85 bottom end that I presume to be good internally, but I got it in parts along with my trike so I have no idea on it's condition.

it looks like the bottom back engine mounts been chopped. I put a couple ads out locally to see if theres a 350xotor available or another 400ex wrecked quad. Hopefully something comes along. jim

theres 2 250x quads local with 350x motors in them, one says not running and smoked when it did run, another just not running. prices are 1200 and 800 which is a bit much of a gamble for me. The seller told me he was told the topend was making noise per the person he got it from. After thinking about it, I think im going to try and figure out the wiring and see if I can get the 400ex motor running. carb and exhaust is already on there. it looks like it was all together at some time. Theres a little hackery on the frame. if i can get it running, ill order the adapter kit from atc adt and install it properly. it came with a oil cooler and custom oil tank. im thinking I tossed all my extra 350D parts like oil lines and coolers.
I did find a guy with a 350x bottom end he might let go, ive got a extra cylinder, head, cam rockerbox intake etc.
Hopefully I can find a simple diagram how to get this to start and charge when I get busy on it. jim

I have a complete '85 350x engine. Runs fine , shifts fine and if I remember correctly the decomp actually works.
BUT it smokes horribly. Maybe just valve seals, who knows. I also have a seat that's in better condition than that.
I'm in so. cal. , not too bad of a drive for you. Or I'll sell you the whole parts bike if you want. It's missing the front wheel, gas tank and a few other small things.

I know, socal is probably a 7 to 8 hour 1 way trip. some of the family is going to Disney in a few weeks. unfortunately theres no room in their suburban for a trike. jim
