I wouldn't call them high maintanence at all. Change the piston rings and sparkplug every now and then and the rest is so simple to work on.

As for the dunes, anything 2 stroke is goin to be fun. I'd recommend a Banshee or any of the 250 2 stroke trikes(especially a TECATE!!!) :-P

they may be higher to maintaine?, but as far as working on a 2-stroke. in my opinion it does'nt get any easier. there's just nothing there, it's simple.

Yeah...topend has the cylinder and head containing the piston/rings and connecting rod...four bolts to remove the whole topend assembly. The bottom end is the most complicated part of the entire bike...has the gears, crank, shift forks and kick-starter...there is very little to work on.

You should get you a 350x, you can ride them in the dunes or the woods. a 250r is a little more fun on the sand though. here's a link on 2 strokes.

It all depends on your machine. Some 4 strokes are a pain in the butt,... and Ive been around some that the guy is always fighting to keep running. Ive also been around 2 strokes that are a huge headache.

Then again, Ive been around both 4 and 2 stroke trikes that run just like they rolled off the showroom floor in the mid 80's. Like they said above, 2 strokes are easy as hell to work on.
4 strokes may be more reliable, but there is nothing, NOTHING in the world like a perfect running 2 stroke on the dunes,.. thats a hard experience to beat 8)

a 350x or a 250r would probably do pretty good on the dunes.

Id say any of the high performance 2 stroke trikes. Like these guys allready said working on the engine doesnt get to much easier. Not sure about the other 2 stroke trikes but on the T3 its great being able to do a top end rebuild with the engine still in the frame.
