    how to ?

How would i go about installing an ignition switch on my 200x i have a honda ign. with keys and already has two wires protruding from it with spade connectors...

would i just split the hot wire from the run/stop switch or is there a better way/place to do it?
also is there a dash that will fit it?I have moose "atv high" handlebars on it.
1982 250r it will run again, new rings, razors, stator!!!(UGLY)
1985 200x runs on race fuel or alky ONLY!

i have top end of a 250x wiring harness in my 350x and it has a key. as if yet, i dont have it installed on the trike for a lack of a good place to mount it. what you do is is splice a piece of wire to the two kill switch wires, they kill the machine when the make contact. walla, keyed ignition. if you find a good way to mount the key, let me know. Let me know the wiring sequence myself... I have a spare 350X complete harness plus an extra kill switch/light switch to play with. Here are two pics of my plans for mounting an ignition switch, however I also have a tach and speedo to mount as well.

1.) My idea.... CB400 Dash Board.

2.) Friend making up this custom dash for his X. I plan on drilling a hole to the left to mount the ignition switch that cam with my CB400 dash. Do NOT ask who it is or bother pming me about it. Just look at the pic and use your imagination.

3.) For just a key, I'd look at an old 200E Big Red ('82 or '83) dash . If I remember right, they clamp onto the handle bars.

ill go outside and make a diagram of the wiring of it tomorrow after i get off work. that looks nice bruce. may be a little more than i want on my bars though. lol. i dont really care about the speedo or tach for mine, its a trail/backroad bike. i missed out on a deal about a year ago on an 86 that had both of these on it from the dealer. it sold for $1000 and looked like it came off the showroom floor. the guy was the original owner and it had only been ridden in his yard for the last 10 yrs. a friend bought it. beat me to it by less than an hour. you never got back to me on the CD. you still interested in the deal. if so shoot me a pm with your addy.

He must have made up a custom bracket too... the speedo and tach brackets are different, but they both are designed to mount on the Right fork. MR ATC had modified a tachometer one to fit the Left fork, but that was on the X that his ex 'borrowed permanently'.

I thought I'd replied to you with an address.... PM sent.

ok, all you have to do is splice into the green and the black/white stripe wires and add the length you need to make it work for your mount. splice into it where it comes out of the factory boot from the kill/light switch. my suggestion is not to cut the wire, just skin it about a 1/2 inch and spread the wire into two groups and form a loop. now you put the splice wire divided into two strands, one through and twist then the other. now get some low temp solder and solder the joint to make it water proof. then tape the heck out of it. good luck and hope this helps.
