I have used them on my dads Harley Davidson and a couple of my cars and never had any trouble. I wouldn't really crank down on one that you used it on, but I would think that it should hold just about anything on a trike.

helical type inserts are self locking, and are as strong or stronger that the origianal material. Since the insert is made of stainless steel, and the repaired part is probably aluminum, the insert itself is stronger than the parent material, but will still pull out of the parent material if too much force is applied. Get it???? Often manufacturers will put inserts into aluminum castings so there is a stronger thread that in aluminum alone. They certainly are not "less strong" than the bare aluminium.

Exactly. They should work on just about anything you use them on, but they are not indestructable.

helicoils installer tap has a more rounded thread than a standard thread, there for they will not pull out as easily and ARE ALOT stronger than a standard thread, be in aluminium or steel. the important thing to remember when puting any bolt in is that you need 1.5 the thread diameter in used length( 6x1.0 bolt going through a 10 mm piece of material needs 19mm minium length for maximum strength). usually helicoils start to unravel if you overtighten them, if this happens, take a pair of needlenose pliers and pjull it out by the end. be sure and break the install tab off and get it out of the hole too. good luck.
