I think you probably could run 86 sprockets on an 85 if you switch your sprocket bolts to flat head counter-sink type. Should be no problem to pic some up from your local industrial supply.

Yes it will work.( do what Jeb said) just make sure you get some good hard bolts. my brother used one of my 86 sprockets on his 85 but bought some cheap arse bolts the first go round and they started shearing off in no time.

Thanks everyone for helping!!! I bought and '86 and it appears to have a durablue or some kind of aftermaket axle in it. The sprocket hub is aluminum and it has been ground on to make it work. It has an '85 sprocket on it now.
