    85 250R Project is on the road!!Update: Going again.

    Finally took the R project for its first ride. Been working on that thing forever. Runs good and no trans. problems. Just gotta get it jetted right. Still needs a few things; skidplates, and a non-leaking petcock, (and hopefully a speedo if this kit I'm getting has all the parts). Just had to tell somebody that cares. Another R is saved from the grave. Some of you might remember this bike. PLJ sold to me through the classifieds in about Nov. If anybody wants to see it I will post some pics.

    AMC: Look in reader's rigs for pics of all the sport trikes I have except for the 'giva and I have posted pice of it before; you prolly have seen it. Look for owner Jim White in reader's rigs. Will post pics of the new R soon.

    I'm pretty much wiped out on r parts now. Still need a few myself. May have something you can use. What do you need?

    By fins, if you mead rad. shrouds, I have a set. They are oem but kinda beat up. Don't understand what you mean plastic shock. Is it plastic (fenders) and a rr. shock? Have a coil but the cap is the wrong one. Have light shell but no lens. No pipe at this time. PM me if you want any of this stuff. Be back in a few, time for another ride!

    Took the r out a little while ago to play with the jetting. Rode it about a mile to a place where I could open it up. Took a couple of passes and did some plug checks. Plugs looked good and it ran good. Smoked a lot tho. Thought maybe rt. side crank seal was going out. Then on 3rd pass, just as I came off the throttle, it slowed down really fast like I was really on the brakes. Then it quit running. After I let it cool, it cranked back up and I couid ride but something is holding the engine back. If I don't keep it reved it will die. Towed it home. Dumped the trans oil and it was way low. Pulled the clutch cover and clutch appears to be o.k. Oil or clutch plates do not smell burnt. Would being low on trans oil make it act like this or is it in the tranny? What do I need to check? Sorry to write so much, want to fix this thing.

    sounds to me like you seized the poor girl up. then once the piston cooled down it would re-fire. my guess would be too much oil in the gas (your comment about the smoke), or an air leak, causing it to run lean (hot) and seiz up.

    May have been too much oil but I am mixing 50 to 1. Could have been an air leak also. Got to figure out where all the trans oil went tho. Gonna replace the rt. crank seal and see what happens.

    when my r runs out of gas but it still has res. it will slow down then stall and it will start but i have to keep it reved unless i put it on res then it runs fine
    83/84 honda act 250r
    parts needed new exaust head pipe, shift shaft the list is forever growing
    87 yamaha warrior trying to get fixed up for a dd
    parts needed upper left ball joint, front shocks, front tires, read break system
