Im not sure if there are some far out ones (like far out towards the edge) the 85s just had bolts under the seat, and two down by the footpegs. The 86s had those, plus two more up top on the back by the seat. Those give a little more support then the 85s had.

I was wondering because on my new fenders there are 2 little holes on each side behind the seat.

I asked about the holes once also. From what I remember, it was an improvement between 85 & 86. Yamaha probably changed their mold, so now when yellow and black fenders were molded after the 86 they had the two holes too.

yes there are suports that are suposed to be there... my 85 has them ill take pics for you tonight if youd like me to. crap never mind i thought you ment the lower supports. but i have also wondered why i have two holes behind the seats... if there is a bracket or support that goes there id like to get one or maybe adapt the 86 one to fit my 85 i think that would be cool.

Thats my guess. The Black dully Maiers I got from Mike didnt have holes on top, but they did on bottom, just like stock. As for new 86, my new oem ones had them, but they are supposed to. Has anyone bought new oem 85's lately to see if the have them?

Jebs theory is a good one. Im betting when Yamaha changed the mold, they just put those holes on every bike. Id have to double check tomorrow, but Im sure the supports will bolt onto an 85 also.
