The last 350x I picked up has a 14 front, 40 rear sprokets, is it safe to run with the 14 it is so close to the cases
what would be the best to run, or should i just change it to factory?

A 14 tooth front will give you more top end speed(1-3 mph).Stock size is a 13.Yes it's safe to run it.You can still fit a case saver on it.As much torque that the x has,i would leave it.
I think its safe. Thats what Im running now. You lose a little low end but I didnt notice it much, theres still a boatload of low left. Plus you get a bit more top end.

I run some 18 in turf tamers in the rear now. What would be a good gearing in the rear? I have a 14 up front and a 40 in the back now.
